The holidays are always full of images we cherish: holly wreaths, Christmas trees, the animals in the Nativity, and gentle birds in flight or roosting above. Join us for a cabaret that celebrates the creatures in the manger and the holiday greenery that keeps this a special time of year. "O Tannenbaum," "the Holly and the Ivy," "Carol of the Birds," and "Deck the Halls" are just a few of the lovely Yuletide songs both new and familiar that make up our program.

Celebrate the season with a fresh and inventive take on Vince Guaraldi's beloved A Charlie Brown Christmas!

Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, the dynamic piano trio Mr. Chair brings their signature blend of jazz fusion and classical imagination to Houston for the first time. Their performance will feature a reimagined Charlie Brown Christmas alongside a vibrant set of original compositions.

Renowned for their bold artistry, Mr. Chair has captivated audiences nationwide with stunning reworkings of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, Stravinsky's Pu/cine/la, and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Following their acclaimed appearance at Chicago's historic Ravinia Festival, they now make their Houston debut at Ovations Night Club.

We forget how many classics were added to the Great American Songbook by Disney animated features. "Someday My Prince Will Come," "When You Wish Upon a Star," "When I See an Elephant Fly," "Bibbity Bobbity Boo," "The Bare Necessities," and "I'm Late" are just a handful of the musical gems that have kept us young and enriched our lives for decades. Oh, and don't tell anyone, but this is a cabaret just for grownups. So shhh! Keep it between us!

Bob Henschen and Gary Weldon in Concert: Overjoyed

For this outing at Ovations, Houston jazz pianist Bob Henschen is teaming up with Gary Weldon, a well-regarded trumpet player, who is also Houston's jazz harmonica virtuoso. Bob enjoyed performing with Gary's quartet here several years ago at the Trinity Jazz Festival and they're looking forward to exploring an eclectic set of favorite music as a duo, from jazz to pop with some French cooking in the middle--a reunion you won't want to miss!

Tatiana Eva-Marie - Paris Je Taime!

Tatiana Eva-Marie is a transatlantic bandleader, singer, and actress, born in Switzerland to a musical family, based in Brooklyn. Her mother is a classical violinist of Romani heritage and her dad is a musician and film composer.

Tatiana lived in Paris from the age of 15 where she fell in love with the music and the city of Paris and earned her living singing on the streets of the city.

Her interests have led her to explore a wide range of musical styles, from 1930s pop to modern jazz. Tatiana Eva-Marie's singing is always inspired by her own French and Balkan heritage; a love for the Parisian art scene era spanning the 1920s to the 60s; a passion for Gypsy music; and a deep connection to the Great American Songbook.

Tatiana's passion for the swirl of music that has thoroughly permeated the city of Paris, and for the city itself, is the focus of Paris Je Taime!

Jazz vocalist Emi Takada returns to Houston to perform a live show with Bob Henschen Trio

Born and raised in Japan, Emi began singing at age ten and in 2010, discovered jazz in New York. While living in Houston, she performed regularly with pianist Bob Henschen and other prominent musicians. In 2017, she moved back to Japan, but visits and performs frequently in NYC and Houston.

The Joe Slezak B-3 Band

Come enjoy the Joe Slezak B-3 Band as they present the rhythmic sound and energy of the Hammond organ. Featuring vocalist Sheri Lavo, this quintet displays the style of music made famous by jazz greats such as Jimmy Smith, Brother Jack McDuff, Shirley Scott and Ernestine Anderson while presenting a few surprises along the way.

The 1940's Great American Christmas Concert

Come see your favorite singers perform your favorite Christmas standards from the 1940's. Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Nat King Cole all join together to put on an unforgettable holiday performance that will leave you feeling that throwback holiday spirit. Standard tunes such as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "The Christmas Song", "Ive Got My Love To Keep Me Warm."
